The Planeta Imaginario Foundation is a clinical, training and research centre offering early and intensive behaviour intervention programmes for children with Pervasive Developmental Disorder. Our intervention programme is a replica of the intervention programme known as the "UCLA Young Autism Project", developed by Dr. Ivar Lovaas at the Psychology Faculty of the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), USA, over the course of more than 35 years of clinical and applied research experience.
The Planeta Imaginario Foundation sees children diagnosed within the autistic spectrum (ASD). The intervention programme is global (covering all the child’s developmental areas). It is aimed at improving intellectual as well as verbal, academic, play, self-help and socialization skills. Our goal is to take advantage of all possible learning opportunities in the day-to-day life of the children, so that, just as with a typically-developing child, they can benefit from any setting or context – family, educational, playful – in which they find themselves.
The Foundation offers a one-to-one early and intensive behavioural intervention for children resident in the Barcelona area and the rest of Spain, even extending into some European countries (France, Italy and Belgium). This means that we work individually with each child for between 20 and 40 hours per week using procedures based on Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA ). The intervention takes place both in domestic and educational settings, the time in each context being adjusted to suit the skills and age of the child.
