At the Planeta Imaginario Foundation we are highly specialized in early and intensive intervention programmes for children within the autistic spectrum (AS).
In fact, the Planeta Imaginario Foundation was created to carry out a replica of the Lovaas/UCLA programmes for young children with autism in Spain.
This programme consists of a psychosocial intervention, enjoying ample scientific support in terms of its efficacy, with the goal of integrating the child into the school, family and social settings in the most inclusive and normal way possible.
To arrange a first appointment and get the most out of your visit it is advisable to follow these steps:
The paperwork should be sent for the attention of Ester Calvo Cuscó by one of the following:
At the first visit, which lasts between three and four hours, a supervisor and the Clinical Director conduct an interview with the parents and a parallel behavioural observation of the child without administering standardized tests. A profile of the child’s skills is constructed in this observation using various tasks that measure performance in visual and auditory discrimination, play skills and behavioural elements such as tolerance/flexibility, self-stimulating behaviours and so on.
It is advisable for the family to bring with them, or leave with the clinical team carrying out the observation, some of the child’s favourite objects or toys so that there is a means of facilitating the work with the child and familiarization can take place more quickly.
The first appointment enables both the parents and the Planeta Imaginario Foundation to satisfy themselves that the child will be able to derive clinically significant benefit from following a one-to-one intensive behavioural intervention. The appointment concludes with the opportunity to clarify information regarding the treatment and resolve any doubts of the part of the parents.
Then, if both parties are in agreement, a date is fixed for starting the Initial Functional Assessment.
